Zebra ZAPI0037 at Pilanesberg Game Reserve
Here we have a Plains Zebra with a reference number of ZAPI0037. What does that mean? The “ZA” refers to South Africa, the “PI” refers to Pilanesberg Game Reserve, and the 0037 is a unique number within this location.
This healthy-looking animal belongs to the Khaki herd. It was first recorded in November 2025.
The most obvious feature on this zebra are its thick black stripes. There is also not much in the way of shadow stripes. There is a thick black stripe on its neck that doesn’t go all the way down and also splits just below the mane. I also take note of the short stripe by its tail.
