Zebra NAET00003 at Etosha
This Plains Zebra has a really interesting pattern of stripes on her rump! There are squiggles, circles and other shapes which should make future identification easy.
The rump, however, is not always visible in a photo supplied to me so what else helps make her identifiable?
I notice a stripe, of consistent thickness, leading down from the rump area forward to the zebra’s side. The interesting feature is that it is ends in a square marking which looks like it has been chopped off. The front left leg is almost devoid of stripes. Is that a common feature of Plains Zebras in Etosha? I will need to monitor that.
