Zebra ZAKL005 at Klapperkop

Unfortunately, this zebra was close to my vehicle, and I didn’t have a wide-angle lens on at the time. This situation happens fairly regularly as zebras get used to traffic on the roads in game reserves and they use the roads as pathways.

There is, however, still plenty of identifying features visible in the photo. The shoulder of the zebra shows a complicated pattern which should, by itself, be enough for identification. There are also a series of short stripes coming down from its back.

Another thing that I notice is how some of the shadow stripes join up with the darker stripes on the hip. These features are more than enough to aid future identification.
